What is a Proteco Natura finish?
The Proteco Natura finish is an exciting innovation. A durable lacquer that protects the floor from scratches and scrape marks. At the same time, the floor gains an extremely natural appearance - just like an oiled wood floor. Proteco Natura retains the floor's natural colour. The lacquer is also double-hardened to make the surface just as durable as our normal Proteco lacquer.
What is a Proteco Lacquer finish?
The Proteco Lacquer finish is one of the world's toughest surface treatments, making the wood floor extremely durable and hard-wearing. Double hardened.
What is a Proteco Oil finish?
The Protecto Oil finish is a natural protective oil. UV-hardening makes our oiled wood floors extra hard-wearing and more dirt resistant.
What is UV-Oil?
The UV hardened oil is of the highest quality, it creates a natural feel, brings out the grain of the wood and enriches the colour.
What is Ultraloc?
Ultraloc is a horizontal board locking system where the boards are easily locked together using a tapping block and hammer.
What is Combiloc?
Combiloc is a board locking system where the boards are angled into each other during installation.
What is Woodloc?
Woodloc is a mechanical joint which locks the boards together almost invisibly, the rows of boards align themselves automatically, without the need for gluing. The boards can be lifted at a later date and re-laid elsewhere.
What is Style Selection?
These floors are stylishly understated, they’re created from a discreet and regular timber grade that doesn’t have huge variations in tone and pattern.
What is Life Selection?
These floors have a more lively appearance, where the patterns and variations in the timber are key to the overall rustic look.
What is Classic Selection?
These floors have the look as if they’ve been around for a hundred years. Ships decking with decorative strips, to wide floorboards with bevelled edges that make you think of times gone by.
What is Linnea?
These floors are available in the Style, Life and Classic Selections, this floor type is 7mm thick and is still crafted with a real wood veneer layer.
What is Viva/Rumba?
These floors are grouped into the Easy Living range, both with the glueless ultraloc locking system. The viva range is an 8.5mm thick genuine wood floor, and the Rumba is a 12mm thick wood floor with a re-sandable surface layer.p>
What is Salsa/Bravo?
These floors are grouped into the Modern Home range, both with the glueless ultraloc or combiloc locking system. These floors are 14mm thick and by far the most common thickness for installing onto an existing floor or subfloor.
What is Epoque/Elegance?
These floors are grouped into the Classic Touch range, both with the glueless ultraloc or combiloc locking system, Epoque Maxiplank is a 14mm plank, the Epoque plank has the same characteristics, but in shorter lengths. The Elegance product is a 10mm strip and installed strip by strip making it possible to create a floor with a personal character. The elegance range is glued to the subfloor.
What is Expert?
These floor types are designed for rooms with special requirements, Expert is available in four different thicknesses 10,14,20 and 22mm, all these floors require gluing or nailing to the subfloor.
Which wood species are the Toughest?
By their very nature, different wood species have different levels of hardness. This is measured using the Brinell method. The harder the wood, the higher the Brinell value. The Brinell test involves pressing a 10mm steel ball against the floor and then evaluating the impression according to a special formula. The higher the figure, the harder the floor. For example, maple is harder than cherry or walnut.
What is 1 strip, 2 strip and 3 strip flooring?
These types of floors indicate how many strips there are across the width of the board. The 1 strip floor has a surface layer sawn as one whole piece, the 2 strip from two, and the three strip from three.
What are Solid Wood Grading Standards?
Industry standard Pre-finished solid wood grades fall into four categories, allowance of +/- 5% of actual grade.
Pemium – A Grade (Prime)
- Best Appearance
- Selected for uniformity of colour
- No checks or splits
- Slight variation in natural sapwood
- Limited small character marks
- Pin Knots allowed
- Mineral streaks of less than 3mm x 25mm
Classic – B Grade (Select)
- Excellent Appearance
- Variations in natural sapwood
- Limited Character marks
- Sound knot of less than 3mm
- Mineral streaks of less than 3mm x 25mm
Nature – C Grade (Common)
- Variated Appearance
- All colour variations allowed
- Sapwood 1/3 width, full length allowed
- No Splits, no open defects
- Sound knots less than 10mm, mineral streaks allowed
Standard – ABC Grade Mixed
- A Grade 30%
- B Grade 40%
- C Grade 30%
